Arrival and Departures:

Arrival Children:

  1.  Children should arrive at 9:30 a.m. Students should be in their classrooms and seated no later than 9:45 a.m.
  2.  Parents must wait in the lobby with their children and not left to wait alone.
  3.  We require that a parent or a person authorized by parents to accompany the child into the classroom

Dismissal Children:

1. Pre-K ends at 1:15 p.m. Students should be picked up by 1:30 p.m. and no later.
2. Children will be picked up in the car rider line in front of the building. We must stress several things. First, please remain in the car and let a teacher bring your child to you. Do not park your car and come into the building to get your child. It creates a dangerous situation, by allowing children the opportunity to run across the parking lot.

Carpool Safety:

Safety is our number one priority during pickup and drop off times.  We ask that you  seat children in car seats for your child’s safety. Car seats should be away from your  car’s airbags. We will not deliver children when parents are on their cell-phones. Please refrain from cell phone use while in the carpool lane.

School Attendance:

If your child will be absent due to illness, vacation, or out of town, please notify the school at (770)500-1052  or (678) 622-6723.

Holidays:

Special dates and holidays observed will be noted on our school calendar provided at the end of this handbook.
Our Pre-K program follows the Gwinnett County School System calendar only on major holidays. However, when Gwinnett County School is closed, we will also be closed.

Inclement Weather:

In the event of inclement weather, if Gwinnett County Schools are closed, our preschool program will be closed as well. Your cooperation in remaining aware of possible dangerous weather situations and checking school closing status in our county is greatly appreciated.

Birthdays:

Because birthdays are big events in the lives of our children, we recognize these special days at school. If you would like to bring a special party snack for your child’s birthday celebration, please make prior arrangements with your child’s main teacher.

Dress Code: Clothing:

Students need to wear comfortable clothes with tennis shoes. It is important your child wears tennis shoes for his/her safety.
We are not responsible for your child’s injury caused by inappropriate attire.
No open- toe shoes, sandals or flip-flops are allowed

Field Trips / Special Events:

During the course of the year, several events are held. When field trips are planned, teachers will let you know well in advance as well as special events. A listing of proposed special events can be found on the school/monthly calendar.

Behavior:

The Thinking Chair is given to children needing redirection and temporary removal from classroom or group setting or participation. Typically, time out will last anywhere from 1-4 minutes.

In our K-4 class, behavior will be recorded on Daily Behavior Sheets to be sent home in folders everyday in the form of a “Happy Face” or “Sad Face.”

Children who are hurting themselves or others and/or chronically disruptive  to the extent that they are not benefiting from the Pre-K program may be dropped from the program.

If your child bites another child, he/she will receive two warnings. On the third time, he/she will be asked not to return to school that following school day.

Discipline:

At Yunhap Kiddie Land we encourage children to use words, not actions, to solve problems.  We model and encourage problem-solving skills. We aid in situations when children need help. Redirection is the most common method of intervention we use in the classroom. If a child cannot be redirected in a positive manner (hurting themselves or others) they are removed from the situation and allowed to return when they are ready to interact appropriately. Parents will be notified, when needed, of any discipline problems.

Accidents or Incidents:

If your child is involved in an accident or incident you will given Accident/Incident report.  An incident/accident report will be written up the day the incident/accident occurs. At the end of the day the parents will be notified of the incident/accident. The parent will sign the form and the form will be placed in the child’s file.
